Overstaying our Costa Rica Honeymoon

March 11th, 2010 . by admin

Last December my wife and I went for our Costa Rica honeymoon right after our wedding in San Francisco where my family is from. It was initially meant to be just a 9 days trip but we ended up staying for 3 weeks. It was just too good of a trip to go back home after more than a week and since we are both running our own business so we could afford to be a little bit more flexible when it came to our schedules. After all we had able and trusted lieutenants to look after our businesses while we were away.

Initially we were staying in Jaco and Manual Antonio area for about a week. Although those 2 places were great for honeymoons with all the right ingredients such as a romantic setting, beautiful beaches and amazing views but we felt that it was also a bit crowded. This is not surprising as both places could be considered as the most visited places in Costa Rica by foreign tourists. They are both pretty accessible as well taking just a mere 2 hours to reach by car or less than 30 minutes by flight to Quepos which is also nearby. However if you are looking for places to stayed and equipped with full ranged of facilities and amenities, these are the places that you should go. After one week, we wanted to go to place where it was less crowded so that we could have some peace and quiet for the remaining days of our honeymoon. Someone from the hotel recommended Nicoya Peninsula specifically Montezuma Costa Rica. We loved it the minute we stepped in Montezuma as the town although small but was charming and the beaches were both tranquil and gorgeous. From Montezuma Costa Rica we also visited the nearby areas which consist of a nature reserve by the name of Cabo Blanco, 2 remote beaches in Santa Teresa and Mal Pais which might not be safe for swimming but great for surfing. Furthermore there are plenty of fabulous restaurants in town that serve unique fusion European and Costa Rica cuisines.
